The Ecstacy of Being Human

How incredible it is to be human! To walk outside and feel the cold autumn air purify your lungs, the red and yellow trees adorning the open, sprawling fields that surround you. What could be more joyous than to be rooted and feel life itself flow from lungs into blood, pumped across all your being? To belong to this planet and feel a silent connection between you and the soil beneath your feet.

Your pulse becomes a subtle metronome reminding you of your liveliness, each heartbeat the percussion of your pulsing vitality. You are, undoubtedly, alive.

Incredible!

Isn't it sad how often we forget this? The sadness is that we have free will and can choose this, at least to a partial extent, but often don't.

But also, how despairing things can be! It is this pull between life and death that makes life so much more sweet.

Life and death; enmeshed and unmoored; breathing and collapsing.

We should not forget that crossing to the other end of the scale reveals just how alive we are!
