Brief, Assorted Thoughts
Government
- The current day: a stress test on the protective capability of federalism. What would the founding fathers think?
- Corruption here, corruption there… The difference this time is the visibility.
- The last thing they would want: educated citizens. Most state governments need federal funding. The Achilles heel.
- Wealth begets more wealth, by design…
Tech
- Three years later, and layoffs continue. How much "fat" can you trim in three years?
- Is it disturbing the scale which companies must operate to be profitable?
- Synthesis, synthesis, synthesis… Revolutionary things are usually simple. See Rust borrow checker.
- Corporate technology has hardly produced revolutionary things lately. AI their current herald, results uncertain…
- A man laid off, posted his experience online: comments include "welcome back to reality"; "get a job at a no name company."
- No difference between a well paid laborer and a scarcely paid laborer. Most important: both humans. Both in unjust systems.
- Workers are inclined to do everything except interrogate the premise of capitalism…
- A friend told me: "You're paid too much." I told him: "You are not paid enough" (and then discussed cost of housing).
- AI use is revolutionary for outliers in cognitive capability. They do not constitute a worthwhile market.
Pets
- Incredible
Work
- Mundane, mundane, mundane…
- Please lock me in a room alone and let me toil. Problem: this does not exist. Oh well.
Being
- Sometimes I suddenly remember that I have free will and can write whatever I want, despite the fact I am mentally ill… Weil's Need for Roots (lovingly).
- I either am excited that one day all this shall end, or I need to just vanish from the world for a few months. I only recently returned to society…
- Oh well. Doomed to be nothing, exiled on both axes.
- So be it.
- Heraclitus, the idea that there is no stable me. Maybe self-hatred is more of a regular hatred, just directed towards those prior distinct beings.
- Wish I could freeze time, unbecome and return to non-being for a few months, and return…
- Why?
Music
- Sometimes the most appropriate response is to cry…
I want to return this firmware to its creator.
